Billboard charting bluegrass artist Mike Mitchell signs for two-record deal with Turnberry Records.
Oct. 6, 2021--Rancho Mirage, Calif.--Turnberry Records is pleased to announce that Mike Mitchell has been added to the label’s impressive roster of recording artists. The vocalist, songwriter, and instrumentalist best-known for his work on fiddle while touring with the Mike Mitchell Band. Mitchell is no stranger to success. His previous album “Small Town” debuted at #2 on the Billboard bluegrass chart.
Already gaining chart traction with "Calling Me" spending five months on the Bluegrass Standard National Video chart, listeners can expect the forthcoming album to be all original music, co-written with talented collaborators including Dawn Kenney, David Morris, Rick Lang, Jack Shannon and members of the Pennsylvania based band Echo Valley. A new single is in the works, to be followed by an LP of all-original music.
Mitchell said his decision to sign with Turnberry was due to multiple occurrences lining up at the same time. The connection to California, where Turnberry is based is one of those. “My wife grew up in Hemet, CA. It’s cool to be on a label that’s right over the mountain. We hope to expand more into California and Colorado.” That being said, he admires the wide-reach and multi genre approach of the label.
Mitchell said he loves the “diversity” found among the artists on the label. “Greg Blake is a friend and mentor, and a personal hero,” Mitchell said. "I've got great feelings about the people behind the company," singing the praises of several of the people behind Turnberry Records, including VP of Records Jeff Brown (of Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome) -- who he described as “like a bluegrass soldier” -- and Daniel Routh (Nu-Blu), Director of Marketing and Distribution for Turnberry.
